Some symbols return again and again throughout history, regardless of time or place. The horse is one of the most recognisable among them. For centuries it has accompanied people not only as a means of travel or work, but also as a powerful cultural symbol. In art and literature it often represents strength, freedom and movement. From ancient equestrian sculptures to heraldic emblems and monumental statues in European cities, the image of the horse has long been associated with courage, energy and the instinct to move forward.
The same motif appears in jewellery as well. For generations the horse has been used as a personal symbol of character and determination. In equestrian culture, which has long been associated with elegance and refinement, the horse’s head appeared in cufflinks, brooches and small medallions. Today the motif returns in a more contemporary form, becoming a subtle sign of independence and dynamic energy that easily translates into everyday jewellery.
The HAST collection was inspired in part by the symbolism of the Year of the Horse, which in many Asian calendars represents a time of motion, courage and new beginnings. It is a moment associated with change, with following one’s instincts and allowing energy to move freely. The horse in this tradition symbolises not only speed and vitality, but also independence and the courage to choose one’s own path.
In our designs this idea takes on a very specific form. A sculpted horse’s head enclosed within a circle becomes the central element of the collection. The same motif appears in every model, in earrings, in a necklace and in a lapel pin, maintaining exactly the same proportions and detail. Because of this consistency, each piece becomes part of a single recognisable sign.
The sculpted form gives the design its character, while the circular frame introduces balance and elegance. Subtle openwork elements allow the surface of the metal to interact with light, giving the form depth and movement. The motif can appear beside the ear as a pair of earrings, worn close to the body as a pendant, or pinned to a jacket as a refined detail.
The HAST collection is a reminder that jewellery can be more than ornament. Sometimes it becomes a symbol of direction, a small sign of the path we choose to follow.
If you feel the energy of change approaching, this may be the perfect moment to prepare your jewellery box for what comes next.
