Mirror, Reflection, Jewellery

Discover ALVA by UMIAR. Polished jewellery forms inspired by the mirror as a symbol of identity, perception and personal reflection.

A mirror is one of the most ordinary objects in daily life, yet also one of the most enigmatic. We glance into it instinctively in the morning, in a hurry, before stepping outside, often without reflection. Each time, we see the same image, and yet never quite the same one.

It is this elusiveness that has fascinated artists and thinkers for centuries. The mirror stands at the intersection of physics and art, functioning as a surface of reflection but also of interpretation. It shows reality while subtly altering it, filtering what we see through perspective, form and material. In art history, it has symbolised vanity, truth and introspection. Today, it increasingly becomes a starting point for conversations about identity, about who we are and how we choose to see ourselves.

This idea accompanies us in the way we design jewellery. Polished surfaces, smooth lines, subtle reflections are not meant to impose meaning, but to leave space for it. The ALVA models function like small, personal mirrors. They do not tell your story for you, they allow you to see it.

What makes a reflection most compelling is rarely what appears at first glance. It is what emerges when you pause and look a little longer.
